Margo Handwerker

Margo Handwerker is Chief Curator and Director of the Texas State Galleries at Texas State University. Handwerker holds a Ph.D. from the School of Architecture at Princeton University and a Masters in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Prior to her appointment at Texas State, Handwerker was a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Urban Design at UCLA.

In recent years, her writing has appeared in The Routledge Handbook to Biology in Art and Architecture (Routledge, 2016); Creative Placemaking: Research, Theory and Practice (Routledge, 2018); and Social Practice Art in Turbulent Times: The Revolution Will Be Live (Routledge, forthcoming 2019). She is co-author of A Decade of Country Hits: Art on the Rural Frontier (Jap Sam Books, 2014), and a member of M12 STUDIO, a group of artists, researchers, and writers collectively based in Colorado.
