JOAQUÍN LÓPEZ “CHAS”

Mexican Composer and sound designer for the stage. He has created music and sound design for dance and theater collaborating during the last forty  seven years with groups and artists such as: Antares, La Laìgrima, Utopiìa, Foco al Aire, Delfos, Quiatora Monorriel, David Barroìn, Pilar Medina, Arthur Kuggeleyn (Switzerland), Date Danza (Spain), Djahel Vinaver, Contradanza, Contempodanza, Natsu Nakajima (Japan), Carpa Theater with Miguel Angel Gaspar (Austria),Teatro el Galpoìn (Uruguay), Teatro 4 (New York), Martiìn Acosta, Alberto Lomnitz, Proyecto Hamlet (Colombia), Boris Shoemann, Richard Viqueira, Coatimundi (France), Martiìn Zapata among others.

He was awarded for “best music” in the National University Theater Festival (Festival Nacional de Teatro Universitario, 1972), in the Association of Theater Journalists of Meìxico (1992), in the XVII and XVII National Dance Prize (Premio Nacional de Danza INBA-UAM 1996 and 1997) and in the European Childrens Theater Festival FETEN (2006 in Spain).

He is a full time profesor of Music and Sound Design at the National School of Classical and Contemporary Dance (Escuela Nacional de Danza Claìsica y Contemporaìnea del INBA en el Centro Nacional de las Artes) and has a grant as a member of the National System for Artistic Creators 2020-2022 (SNCA-FONCA).
